He's getting so big

Reid is growing so fast! After our long trip to Umatilla (that's another blog) we discovered that Reid can sit up on his own and almost roll over. He is ready for his exersaucer and loves it. Reid also slept in his crib for the first time. It was hard not being in the same room with him, but I knew the day would come. Another first he had was eating rice cereal. I think he really likes it! Oh and I can't forget his first "official" giggle. It's a combination of a grunt and a laugh.

Does it ever end?

Our black pug Bernie has a huge ulcer on her eye. She probably bumped into something, and since pugs have such a flat face, there is nothing to protect her bug-eyes! She is on an eye creme that has to be admistered every hour to the affected eye and we have to watch for things oozing out of the ulcer, like her eye parts! YUK. If the creme doesn't work, they will have to cover her eye with her third eye lid. That costs about $500, so lets hope the creme works.

Grandma Lenore

Grandma Lenore in the Red NY Yankee hat she gave me to take to New York City. She loved baseball and Johnny Damon.

My grandma Lenore passed away over a month ago. She lived a full life and was proud of her large family. She had 11 children, 23 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and her faith got her through hard times. She loved to paint, bake, sew, play the piano and be around family. The week before she died she had all of her family at her house for one last Hoo-Ra, as she called it. She loved to be surrounded by her large family.

First Mothers Day

My first mothers day was bitter sweet. My grandma Lenore passed away earlier in the week and we were in Portland for the funeral. I was able to spend Mother's Day with my mom, my husband and my son. We went shopping and out to lunch. It's still hard to believe I am a mother. Reid is so precious and it brings tears to my eyes watching him smile at me. My favorite things to do with him are rock in our glider rocker in his nursery, breastfeed, and sing songs (Take M e Out to the Ball Game, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Rock a Bye Baby). He is growing so fast it scares me, I try to hang on to the memories but make room for new ones at the same time.

Becoming Parents

This is for my Best Friend Lisa, she never had the wonderful opportunity to see my bare belly in person, and I would only post this picture of my huge stretched out belly for her (just remember that there was a 10 pound baby in there!)

Reid was born March 11, 2008. I was 10 days past my due date, and could't wait to meet him and hold him in my arms. I thank God every day that he arrived safely. I labored for 24 hours and ended up having a C-Section. Things got pretty scary towards the end, but we pulled through. I couldn't have done it without the support of Rudd. He breathed with me through all the contractions, rubbed my back, held my hand and prayed with me. Reid had to stay in the special care nursery for three days because of his low blood sugar. We call him our chunky monkey because he was 10 pounds when he was born. He was so big, he didn't fit in any of the clothes we packed for him, so his grandparents went shopping and bought him some new clothes. We donated the clothes we packed for him to the special care nursery where he was staying. Parenthood is wonderful, and I can't imagine my life without my little boy in it.
